UV Radiation Protection & Solar Energy Control

Have you ever noticed a faded carpet or display item in a sunny retail store window? That damage is caused by solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Over time, UV light breaks down chemical bonds in fabrics, wood finishes, and paints, causing fading and deterioration. Standard window glass provides virtually no protection against these rays.

Glazing Science & Storm Engineering

To protect high-value interiors, we recommend laminated safety glass. The polyvinyl butyral (PVB) plastic interlayer is formulated with specialized UV absorbers that block up to 99% of harmful UV radiation (specifically UVA and UVB wavelengths). This permanent protection preserves inventories and furniture without the need for dark window tints.

Weather Protection Priorities:

  • Wind Load Engineering: Framing systems engineered to resist high negative and positive pressures.
  • Solar Heat Control: Microscopic metal oxide coatings that bounce away solar heat.
  • Acoustic Isolation: PVB membranes that dampen noise from traffic and severe wind.
